Getting Started

Starting a session is straightforward:

  • Open Conversational IQ and go to the Track tab
  • Tap Start
  • Place your phone close to the conversation, ideally on the table between speakers
  • Let the session run naturally while the app measures talk balance, turns, flow, and pace
  • Tap Stop to review your recap

Conversational IQ uses on-device machine learning to build a voice profile for each enrolled speaker. That helps the app recognize you and other enrolled people during future sessions.

For the clearest results, complete voice enrollment in a quiet environment and speak naturally for about 25 seconds.

Yes. Please get consent from everyone participating before you use the app.

You can say something simple like: "I'm using an app to help me notice my conversation habits. It processes the conversation on my phone and keeps my saved session data on my iPhone. Is it okay if I use it while we talk?"

Understanding Your Results

Your Flow Score (0-100) is a turn-taking timing read. Higher scores usually mean more entries lined up with clear pauses or clean handoffs.

  • 80-100: Excellent flow with consistently clean timing
  • 60-79: Good flow with mostly smooth timing and a few quick handoffs
  • 40-59: Mixed flow with tighter handoffs across the conversation
  • Below 40: Frequent quick or abrupt handoffs, which can be a sign to leave more space before replying
  • Smooth means transitions were generally natural and unhurried.
  • Dynamic means the conversation was active, with a healthy mix of smooth and quicker exchanges.
  • Quick handoffs means the conversation stayed tight and fast, which can be useful context if you want to leave a little more space.

It depends on the situation. In a one-on-one conversation, something close to 50/50 often feels balanced, but different contexts call for different shares:

  • Catching up with a friend: Around 40-60 can feel healthy
  • Coaching or mentoring: The other person may need more of the floor
  • Interviews or discovery conversations: You may want to speak much less and listen more

The goal is not perfection. It is being intentional about the role you want to play in the conversation.

Privacy & Data

Conversational IQ processes conversation audio in real time on your iPhone. The app is designed not to keep saved session audio recordings as part of normal use.

Live speech recognition can run during a session to support pace or coaching features, and saved session metrics stay on your iPhone unless you choose to export them.

Conversational IQ does not use in-app accounts or cloud sync for session metrics, voice profiles, recaps, or settings.

If you email support or privacy, we receive that contact information separately so we can reply.

Current delete paths in the app are:

  • Delete individual sessions from History
  • Use History > Clear All Sessions to remove saved session history
  • Use Settings > Privacy & data > Reset CIQ data on this iPhone for a full local reset on this iPhone only
  • Use Settings > Manage People to remove enrolled speaker profiles

If you want support or privacy email records deleted, email [email protected].

Troubleshooting

Recognition works best when:

  • You completed voice enrollment in a quiet environment
  • The phone is placed near the conversation instead of in a pocket or bag
  • Background noise is limited
  • Several people are not speaking over each other continuously

If results stay off, try refreshing your voice from Settings > My Profile or another person's voice from Settings > Manage People.

Conversational IQ uses on-device machine learning during active sessions, so longer sessions can use more battery than ordinary apps.

  • Keep your phone charging for longer sessions when you can
  • Close other heavy apps running in the background
  • Make sure your phone has enough charge before starting a long session
